Sydney Flower School is excited to announce the third offering of our Floral Event Management Course, as an opportunity for students to be involved an annual, ‘real-lfe’ industry event.

Starting on Sunday 14th July 2019 the Floral Event Mangement course will run over 3 months, with classes being held on a fortnightly basis, & culminating in the installing of floral displays for Rivendell Flower Show.

The course gives each participant the opportunity to work as part of a real-life project team. These classes will cover everything required to design, plan & manage – not only the Rivendell Flower Show – but any large floral event of similar calibre.

Due it’s outstanding inaugural success in 2017 the Rivendell Flower Show will be held for the 3rd year running on Saturday 28th + Sunday 29th September 2019.

This is a public, community event showcasing floral + landscape designs, hosted in the unique heritage Thomas Walker Estate (in Concord) over one glorious weekend. The Estate has been the previous location for Lex Luthor’s mansion in Superman Returns and was included in Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby.

The Rivendell Flower Show is a combination of floral displays, floral gardens, pop up workshops & demonstrations with special guest appearances by some of Australia’s best gardening & floral personalities.

Sydney Flower School will again be designing, planning, constructing and dismantling all the floral displays on the Front Entrance of the building as well as in both the Entrance Hall & glorious formal Ballroom of Rivendell.

Session 1: Sunday 14 July (3 hours)
Attend Rivendell on-site visit and receive and interpret the client brief

Session 2: Sunday 28 July (4 hours)
Planning the design

Session 3: Saturday 10 August (8 hours)
(am) Attending a tour of the flower market and visit to sundries supplier / Costing & budgeting
(pm) Attending a skills class & discussing construction details + requirements

Session 4: Sunday 25 August (8 hours)
Logistics and on-the-day event management

Session 5: Sunday 8 September (6 hours)
Revisit site + review & confirm logistics

Session 6: Sunday 22 September (4 hours)
Event briefing

Sessions 7 + 8: Wednesday 25 + Thursday 26 September (9 hours both days)
Hands-on preparation days

Sessions 9 + 10 + 11: Friday 27 – Sunday 28 September
Bump in on Friday &/or Bump out on Sunday (after 3pm)
Onsite management of displays on Saturday &/or Sunday (1/2 day mandatory)

All students who attend this exciting Event Management class will also have access to a closed Facebook ‘Events’ group hosted by Sydney Flower School, which will give students the opportunity to work together as a team, discuss ideas and communicate their plans outside of class time.

- Course content notes

- Professional photos of the event work and event for your portfolio
- Certificate of completion
- Volunteer entry pass into the event for one day
- Contact list of all vendors used

- This class is open to anyone interested in floral design / event styling. You will ideally have some experience with floral design &/or have attended a previous class/course with us.
- Students are not required to bring or supply any florals, materials or equipment.
- For Work Health & Safety purpose we request all students wear fully enclosed comfortable footwear for the duration of all sessions.

$2500 incl GST
The course cost not only includes all course materials, flowers and sundries but the shared knowledge + know-how of respected industry professionals, the invaluable experience of working on a real-life floral event and learnt skills required to plan and execute future events that you, as a trained Floral Events Manager, will be able to offer your future clients.
