RIVENDELL FLOWER SHOW FLORAL DESIGN COMPETITIONS

Sydney Flower School are thrilled to announce they are hosting – not 1, but 2! - floral design competitions for the first time as part of, and onsite at, Rivendell Flower Show.

All entries will be proudly incorporated and exhibited for the duration of the Rivendell Flower Show, being held over Saturday 6th + Sunday 7th October 2018, on the stunning grounds of the historic, riverside venue that is Thomas Walker Estate, Concord.

Judith and Kylie think this is an exciting opportunity for floral creatives of all skill levels to showcase their craft and passion – be they enthusiasts, students, florists, artists, stylists or designers.

A fabulous opportunity to provide an open, fun, inclusive, design-inspired, competitive opportunity for all flower lovers!

Competitions Now Open for Registration

Competition #1 is open to amateur floral creatives with 2 years experience or less.

Competition #2 is open to professional, advanced floral stylists and/or designers.

Competition #1 = Elevated Floral Design for a Banquet Table

As an amateur floral creative you will style the top of a 60cm high square gold metal stand with a floral design designed to hold 5 candles. The design will be placed and featured in the centre of a long banquet table.

Materials supplied
- 60cm gold metallic stand
- all flowers and foliages (you will only use materials supplied, no embellishments)

You will supply
- tool box with all tools and equipment necessary to complete your design
- sundries required for your design

Competition #1 Criteria
- the competition for this design will be held on Friday 5th October, onsite at Thomas Walker Estate
- flowers must last for the duration of the flower show, be adequately secured to the frame and designed to be visible from all angles
- judging will be conducted, announced and awarded on Friday 5th October, onsite at Thomas Walker Estate
- entries will remain on display for the duration of the flower show while also featured as part of the floral exhibition in the Grand Hall, on the banquet tables, at the Rivendell Flower Show Gala Dinner on Saturday 6th October
- a People’s Choice Award will be announced at the Rivendell Flower Show Gala Dinner on Saturday 6th October
- entries are open and limited to the first 12 registrations received
- prizes to be announced

Competition #2 – Free-Standing Floral Installation for a Garden Party

As a professional floral designer and/or stylist you will create a free-standing Floral Installation suitable as the focal point for a garden party. The size of your installation will be no larger than 1.5m wide x 2.2m high.

Materials supplied
- all flowers and foliages

You will supply
- your own tool box containing all tools and equipment required to complete your design
- structure required for your design (your structure needs to be stable and/or weighted to avoid any mishaps)
- all sundries required to complete your design

Competition #2 Criteria
- the competition will be held at 9am on Saturday 6th October in the gardens of Rivendell, Thomas Walker Estate
- all flowers and foliages must last for the duration of the flower show, be adequately secured to your constructed frame and designed to be visible from all angles
- judging will be conducted on Saturday 6th October
- a People’s Choice Award will be conducted over the duration of the Rivendell Flower Show and will be announced at 2pm on Sunday 7th October
- all entries will remain on display for the duration of the Rivendell Flower Show as a notable, free-standing, floral installation
- places are open and limited to the first 10 registrations received
- prizes to be announced
